Hope Highlights May 5, 2024
As we navigate through the school year, I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for the incredible Hope School staff
Each day, our dedicated team of teachers and support staff go above and beyond to create a nurturing and enriching learning environment for our students. Their passion, dedication, and commitment to the success and well-being of every student is truly inspiring
From the teachers who pour their hearts into lesson planning and fostering a love for learning, to the support staff who ensure the smooth operation of our school, keep our students safe, and build relationships, every member of the Hope School team plays a vital role in shaping the future of our students
Their hard work, creativity, and dedication do not go unnoticed, and I am deeply grateful for the positive impact they have on our school community
Please join me in extending our heartfelt gratitude to the amazing Hope School staff for their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to our students' success.
Thanks to our PTA and YOU, we will be celebrating our staff with Lunch on Wednesday and snacks throughout the week. Sign Up Here.
I also encourage you and your student to write a note of appreciation to your classroom teacher and all the support staff that make a difference in your student's life at school. Your words of appreciation mean a lot to the people that work hard every day for your student.
Just in case you don't remember all of our staff members, they are listed below. I didn't list our teachers, because I know you are already thinking about how to honor them. :-)

ELPAC Testing- Next Week
This week, our TK-2nd grade students will be participating in the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) test. This assessment is designed to measure English proficiency for students who are learning the language

SBAC Math and ELA Testing - Week of May 13
Our students in grades 3rd through 6th will be participating in the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) tests as part of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) program
Testing Schedule: The testing will take place during the weeks of May 13th through June 2nd. Please note that each grade level will have slightly different testing days, which will be communicated to you by your student's teacher. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding in accommodating these schedules
**Purpose: **The SBAC tests in Mathematics and English Language Arts (ELA) are designed to measure students' understanding of the California academic standards and provide valuable insights into their academic progress
Preparation: While there's no need for specific test preparation, ensuring your child gets plenty of rest, eats a nutritious breakfast, and arrives at school on time during the testing days can help them perform their best
Support: Please encourage your child to do their best on the tests. Reassure them that it's okay if some questions are challenging, and remind them to take their time and read each question carefully
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education. If you have any questions or concerns about the SBAC testing or your child's academic progress, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Measure J Bond
The Hope Elementary School District Planning and Construction Management oversees new construction and modernization of all district facilities. The department is responsible for the district’s short and long-term facility needs, including enrollment and staffing projections to identify facility needs.
Through careful planning and support from the community, Hope Elementary School District has prepared well to accommodate the current needs of our students, staff, and community. In March 2020, the Hope School District community voters passed Measure J. This $47.4 million bond will provide funding for the modernization of our facilities, including new construction at Hope Elementary School, Monte Vista Elementary School, and Vieja Valley Elementary School.
The first series of $12 million was sold in May 2020, received in June 2020, and deposited in Fund 22 (Bonds). The district must spend 85% of those proceeds within three years. Staff predicts all $47.4 million proceeds will be spent by 2025. Closing out the bond program requirements by June 2026.
For more information, please see additional sections on the webpage to review the school site project list, timeline, and status.
